Profile: the first production of this Omaggio a Quintino Sella was in 1999. The vineyard is located in the historic winery of the municipality of Lessona. The vines are about 75 years old. Hilly area with south-east exposition, 330 meters above sea level. Planting is guyot training. Soil texture has ph acid on polycene sand of originally marine soil with color yellow orange-ish. Harvest is in mid-October. A total of 1500 bottles of this wine will be produced.
Maturation: selection of the grapes in the vineyard and cooling of the grapes as soon as they arrive at the Tenute Sella winery. Destemming and pressing, followed by fermentation in inox tanks with remontage and delestage. Maceration for 45 days. Fermentation malolactica occurs during alcoholic fermentation. Then 36 months in French oak barrique and Slavonian oak for the large barrels of medium toasting (50 hectoliters and barriques)
Nose: In the nose, notes of delicate herbs and ripe red berry fruit emerge, with a nice balsamic touch.
Mouth:
The palate is structured, powerful and elegant at the same time, with silky tannins and an acidic texture that suggests good longevity. The finish is harmonious and fine with fruity notes.
