Francesco Brigatti - Mötfrei - Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo doc 2021

Item No.: FrancescoBrigattiNebbiolo2021

Francesco Brigatti, the winemaker himself, talks about this wine:

Mötfrei is the dialectal name of the hill on the slopes from which the grape variety that forms the basis of this wine is grown.

The local dialect from the village of Suno gives "Möt" as the translation of "hill" and "Frei" as that of "Porcini Mushrooms," hence the meaning.

This elegant single-varietal, Nebbiolo-based wine is aged for 18 months in French oak tonneaux. The unique microclimate and careful selection of grapes through green harvesting are crucial in giving this wine character and structure.

However, Mötfrei is never excessively full-bodied, but instead shows a fine balance of floral, spicy and balsamic notes that never overpower the notes of the wooden barrel.

We recommend a serving temperature of about 18-20°C and uncorking the bottle some time before consumption.

Our choice to age this wine in tonneaux instead of using the classic medium barrels is deliberate and shows the incredible versatility of our Nebbiolos. Our Mötfrei offers a unique sensory experience that combines a great mineral print with sweeter secondary aromas from an oak barrel (tonneaux)
