Forza Piedmont!
Today is Friday the 13th. (it was yesterday, but the action continues until March 16)
Corona Virus also has Belgium in its grip, after Italy.
Also Belgium, although to a much lesser extent compared to Italy, has for the first time to do with e.g. hospitality: the place where we could be social with friends, colleagues, family.
My thoughts are constantly with our winegrowers from the Alto Piemonte-Asti & Alessandria region, the ones who have been in quarantine for the longest time. But also with all the others...
We don't do business with wineries if we don't have a very personal and close relationship with them. So the slightest change, positive or negative, is immediately shared with us.
I'm thinking mainly of, for example:
Umberto Fracassi Ratti Mentone, our now 85-year-old winegrower from Cherasco, Marquis, living and working from a beautiful Palazzo dating back to 1880, but all on his own... How he experiences everything that is going on in Italy nowadays, so staying at home and just outside for pharmacy and food shopping. At the very least what he takes an extra step, he might get a fine of number followed by two zeros.
To our wineries in Alto Piemonte - Centovigne, Poderi ai Valloni, Enrico Crola, Francesco Brigatti, Paride Chiovini, Cantina del Signore - all of them are professionals who certainly don't lose heart, waiting for the end of this "lock down" to resume their business in a normal way.
Certainly not only my commercial feeling, but also my deeply human and social integration, with each of them gave me the idea to put them in the spotlight just on Friday the 13th - for Italy this is a lucky day.
