Barbaresco DOCG 2015
Repeatedly the question during tastings was how it was made with the weather and the impact on growth of the grape and therefore the harvest in 2015. Indeed I lived in 2015 still among the vineyards Nebbiolo for Barbaresco and I therefore had a daily view on the process.
Only in the month of January we had to deal with a temperature of minus 0 degrees, limited to a few days. The spring was - as often happens - provided with considerable rain showers. From May to June there was a lot of sun with the plant making a leap forward in its growth. In mid-June to mid-August it was a heat of size and our 2 air conditioners could hardly cool the office space. From the middle of August finally some rain showers came in, which allowed the plant to develop properly. The harvest was very early, between September 25 and October 10 ... feeling of the climate.
The Barbaresco 2015 is an intense and decidedly youthful wine, with a delicious presence of ruby ââ¬â¹ââ¬â¹and garnet tones; spacious and complex aromas, dominated by fruity and fragrant scents, supplemented in perspective with spicy spicy notes. The Barbaresco 2015 guarantees full, robust and compact flavors. In 2015, the Nebbiolo wine potential of Barbaresco was 738 hectares and the actual production was 4,652,400 bottles, about 300,000 more than in 2014.
Barolo DOCG 2014
The Barolo got to deal with a less favorable climate. The number of showers were heavier and more frequent in the Barolo region. This is also normal. Where in Barbaresco at the time through the existing infrastructure (gas cannons) to drive hailstorms but also rain to other regions, this is not applied in the Barolo region. Where the plant was at the forefront of growth through a very beautiful spring season, a very slow evolution finally started, so that a normal harvest took place in October. From an organoleptic point of view, Barolo 2014 is rich in color, full of aromas, with a good structure and top-quality. In 2014, the production of Nebbiolo for Barolo was 2,067 hectares and the actual production was 12,741,467 bottles, more than 1 million and 200,000 fewer than the year before.
