Il Vino Non Si Ferma - Covid 19 reaction of the Italian winefarmers

Il Vino Non Si Ferma - Covid 19 reaction of the Italian winefarmers
The website www. ilvinononsiferma.it are the words of the winemakers, very clear, fixed in what, as they explain themselves, is an "open letter from the Italian winemakers for a loyal and shared chain dynamic".
The economic consequences of the pandemic have engulfed our entire society, with consequences that also put the wine sector in crisis. Many customers have been forced to close, but nature does not stop. The winegrowers are the protectors of the country, and have not stopped. They work for excellence, to improve the culture and civilization of wine, to consolidate the reputation of Made in Italy in the world. Defending the integrity of the territories and the beauty of the landscapes, which make Italy extraordinary, is their other mission, which makes them proud to be Italian.  They are thus guardians of unique ecosystems, at a time when the fight against climate change is just as urgent.
They are aware of the difficulties caused by this pandemic and the consequences it will continue to have on all sectors for which wine is an irreplaceable resource. They appreciate the initiatives of the world of distribution aimed at stimulating dialogue between the various players in the supply chain and they are close to their distributors, agents, wine merchants and restaurateurs, sommeliers, catering services, innkeepers, and anyone who loves wine.
They feel an active part of the extraordinary community that lives from wine, and their belief is that we can only emerge from this crisis if we remain united and if the work and role of each of us in every link of the supply chain is safeguarded.
That's why they're asking everyone to respect their work and give back the same respect, knowing that only through loyal cooperation can we come out of this crisis together.  They will not accept commercial pressures aimed at reducing the margin that is the source of income for their businesses, because they believe that only with the recognition of fair compensation will the dignity of the work of those who work with us in the production, marketing and promotion of their wines be guaranteed.
They will not accept unfair practices such as disproportionate requests for gifts, recognising that only by respecting normal commercial conditions can we make a positive contribution to the development of the supply chain.
They are willing to discuss forms of subsidised credit that take into account the economic difficulties that all restaurants and wine bars will face when they reopen, bearing in mind the efforts and investments that we, as farmers, have never stopped making.
In choosing to sell their products directly to the final consumer, they are determined to work loyally with our distribution and catering customers, who are fundamental to the promotion and improvement of the wines produced by Italian winemakers.
This is why they guarantee that the price lists for private individuals respect the normal marginality reserved for commercial companies.
They are convinced of the need to strengthen cooperation with all players in the wine chain, aware that only an open and organic dialogue can offer the best opportunities for growth and improvement for this world.
